KipwareCSF® Database

 

 

 

Opening KipwareCSF® we are presented with the main screen. KipwareCSF® does contain some basic parameters to get the user started, but we strongly suggest the user build the database based on their own desired parameters. However, rather than sitting and doing data entry into the database, we recommend users add or edit cutting parameters as they are creating cutting programs. For example, today you will be programming some turning operations for a brass part. You should begin the programming process by entering KipwareCSF® and adding the cutting parameters required in KipwareCSF®. That way the parameters will be available within Kipware® conversational when you start to create the program, and will have been added to the database for life. Using this type of system you can build the database gradually as you are creating G code programs and it will accurately reflect those speeds and feeds that are achievable with your equipment and tooling.

 

We will begin here from scratch and add a new material into the database. We will start by selecting the ADD A MATERIAL button. Add the desired name and then select ADD MATERIAL NAME TO THE DATABASE. Returning to the main screen we can pull down the drop down list and select the new name. If we select a main operation from the left side, say rough milling, you can see that we can enter up to 10 sub parameters for rough milling. This is a very flexible feature in KipwareCSF®. Users could enter surface feet per minute and feedrate for multiple tool types. A high speed steel 2 flute end mill with an SFM of 350 and feedrate of 4 thousands per tooth. A carbide 2 flute end mill with an SFM of 450 and feedrate of 6 thousands per tooth. Lastly a carbide 4 flute end mill with a SFM of 375 and feedrate of 5 thousands per tooth. Once the data entry is complete, SAVE THE DATABASE.
