{"id":269,"date":"2016-06-01T16:52:52","date_gmt":"2016-06-01T16:52:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/kentechinc.com\/kipware_blog\/?p=269"},"modified":"2021-09-16T14:24:38","modified_gmt":"2021-09-16T14:24:38","slug":"new-release-kipwaret-ball-turning-menu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kentechinc.com\/kipware_blog\/new-release-kipwaret-ball-turning-menu\/","title":{"rendered":"New Release &#8211; KipwareT\u00ae Ball Turning Menu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we mentioned in our previous post &#8230; we are announcing the release of (3) new conversational menus for our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kipware.com\/kipwaret\/\">KipwareT\u00ae &#8211; Conversational CNC Programming Software for Turning<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The previous post &#8230; <a href=\"http:\/\/kentechinc.com\/kipware_blog\/new-release-kipwaret-conversational-tapered-radius-groove\/\">SEE HERE<\/a> &#8230; outlined the new OD-tapered-radius groove &#8230; and this post we would like to outline and explore the new BALL turning menu.<\/p>\n<p>As with all the great features inside <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kipware.com\/kipwaret\/\">KipwareT\u00ae<\/a> &#8230; this new menu comes with tons of real world and very cool features. Let&#8217;s take a deeper look.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kentechinc.com\/kipware_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/KipwareT_menu1.gif\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-270\" src=\"http:\/\/kentechinc.com\/kipware_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/KipwareT_menu1.gif\" alt=\"KipwareT_menu1\" width=\"964\" height=\"781\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see from the menu screenshot above &#8230; the form gives the user the ability to configure and type of &#8220;ball&#8221; machining required. Using he fill-in-the-blank form &#8230; users can configure :<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>the WIDTH of the ball<\/li>\n<li>the RADIUS of the ball<\/li>\n<li>the FRONT and REAR diameters<\/li>\n<li>the OFFSET where the center of the ball is not on the part centerline<\/li>\n<li>as well as tons of cutting parameters from X depth of cut to finish allowance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff6600;\">POWERFUL Features Included &#8211; Standard<\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Ya ya ya &#8230; those are features you would expect from\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kentechinc.com\/kipware-programming-software\/\">Kipware\u00ae conversational<\/a> &#8230; but let&#8217;s look at some really powerful features that you would expect to pay more for &#8230; or not even find &#8230; on other &#8220;hobby designed&#8221; conversational apps.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kentechinc.com\/kipware_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/KipwareT_menu2.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-271\" src=\"http:\/\/kentechinc.com\/kipware_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/KipwareT_menu2.gif\" alt=\"KipwareT_menu2\" width=\"199\" height=\"142\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The first option allows the user to select the type of tool to be used. Options include a standard turning type tool &#8230; 55 or 35 degree diamond &#8230; or a bull nose type grooving \/ turning tool. Obviously if the radius on the ball is small &#8230; a standard turning tool could rub when machining the back side of the ball. A bull nose type tool gives the user much more machining options. The option to select different tool\u00a0configurations is huge in the real world &#8230; and quite a complex option to include &#8230; but there it is &#8230; a\u00a0STANDARD feature in <a href=\"https:\/\/kentechinc.com\/kipwaret\/\">KipwareT\u00ae<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/kentechinc.com\/kipware_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/KipwareT_menu3.gif\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-272\" src=\"http:\/\/kentechinc.com\/kipware_blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/06\/KipwareT_menu3.gif\" alt=\"KipwareT_menu3\" width=\"248\" height=\"118\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The second feature has become to be a standard in<a href=\"https:\/\/kentechinc.com\/kipwaret\/\"> Kipware\u00ae conversational<\/a> &#8230; allowing the user to create a cycle that includes ROUGHING or FINISHING or BOTH ROUGHING and FINISHING. This feature gives the user to complete the machining with a single tool or multiple tools.<\/p>\n<p>This menu goes a little further and allows the user to select a SINGLE PASS finishing cycle &#8230; where the tool start at the front of the ball and machines to the back of the ball in one pass &#8230; or a DOUBLE finishing pass where the tool start at the front &#8230; turns to the middle &#8230; backs away and the returns\u00a0to start at the center of the ball and machines to the rear of the ball. So the &#8220;blend&#8221; can be controlled at the\u00a0center of the ball. I think most would agree that the one pass is more ideal &#8230; but the real world has shown us that the double pass option can be advantageous for some materials.
